Pea food with chicken

The chicken legs are washed, portioned and boiled.

If we have frozen peas, let it boil for a few minutes.

Considering that the tomato juice is boiled, add it immediately after the peas. I also put a large chopped tomato. I also like to see pieces of tomato.

At the end we put salt, pepper, basil according to everyone's taste and pleasure.

Turn off the heat and sprinkle a bunch of chopped dill to give it a special flavor.

PEA MEAT WITH CHICKEN FLESH

If you want a quick and tasty lunch, I highly recommend the pea recipe with chicken legs. All you need is a few ingredients that cook in the blink of an eye, and if you give up meat, you can definitely get a very consistent meal for one of the fasting days.

ingredients:

  • 400 gr. frozen peas
  • 1 onion
  • ½ carrot
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 dill connection
  • 2 chicken legs
  • salt and pepper to taste

I had two whole thighs from a chicken in the freezer, which I often use when I want a tasty dumpling soup. Cut them in half so that you can enjoy both the top and the bottom and fry them with a little salt and pepper in a saucepan with a lid.

Separately, I use another pan in which I fry the onion and the carrot in a little coriander-flavored sunflower oil.

When they have softened enough, add the tomato paste, mix a little and leave them on the fire for about 2 minutes.

I add the frozen peas and a liter of water then leave the food under the lid for almost half an hour. Looks like I was lucky to have a good pea that boiled pretty quickly. And it smells so good! I can't wait for the new pea to appear on the market for its unmistakable taste.

I crush the garlic with a knife, cut it into small pieces and add it over the peas, put the bay leaf, then prepare a spoonful of flour which I dissolve in a cup of cold water. I turn it over in the food, stirring vigorously until the sauce binds a little, I add the ready-fried thighs, season with salt and pepper, after which I leave the food on low heat for about 5 minutes.

I have always thought that a pea dish is not perfect if it is not complemented by a dill.

  • 300-400 ml chicken soup (from water and chicken concentrate)

  • 200-300 ml cream
  • 1 bunch chopped dill
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1-2 teaspoons of sugar (if desired)

Method of preparation:

Wash and drain the peas. Cut the chicken breast into 4-5 cm pieces. In the hot oil, brown the chicken on both sides, then place it on a plate.

In the same oil, sauté the chopped onion for 3-4 minutes, then add the peas, spices and chicken soup. Bring to a boil over medium heat for about 10 minutes.

Add the chicken and simmer for another 5-6 minutes. When the meat is penetrated, add the cream and let it boil for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with finely chopped dill.

The story of this seasonal dish, simple but absolutely delicious, takes me away from the memories. I remember Mother Good coming from kindergarten with an apron lap full of green and raw pea pods. She invited me to join her in disguise, something I didn't find interesting at the time. In fact, it does not seem to me even at this time, how I am not attracted to any monotonous and repetitive activity. While I was trying to find all sorts of excuses, Buna lured me with stories and snobs and, with great difficulty, maybe I managed to get the tender berries out of a few dozen pods.

I also remember that Good Mother ate raw grains with pleasure. I grimaced, my taste had not yet been refined enough to appreciate their sweetness and tenderness. Instead, I was looking forward to the pea meal, as well as the soup of peas, which I have always liked as much as I do now.

Peas from their own culture

This year I planted peas in my garden, I planted six rows. I was lucky with the peas, because other sowings did not bear much fruit. Some were answered by the too cold spring weather, others by coropisnites, because we try not to sprinkle with any chemicals. Well, if we have neither carrots nor parsley nor basil, we can say that we have faced an overproduction of peas. One week in a row, I undressed daily in the pods, hating this occupation as much as in childhood. With the difference that now I do the things that need to be done even if I dislike it. And I love peas, so I have no excuse. Ah, and I sweetened the bitterness of the few hours I spent daily in this way with tender peas, which I ate raw. Delicious, what was it in my mind as a child that I didn't like ?!

Going back to the pea dish with chicken and bread dumplings (Semmelknödel), it's a complete dish. If you prepare the food with dumplings, you will not need any garnish or even bread at the table. It is a dish inherited from the gastronomic dowry of the ethnic Germans from Banat, maybe unique for many readers. According to my taste, it's delicious as I can't say, with the tender and sweet pieces that lend their taste to each other, in a single saucepan.

I recently discovered Bonduelle and Uncle Statis peas in the bag. And I promised myself that I would never use canned peas or jars, only frozen ones. It is younger, crispier, the berries are bigger and greener than the peas in the jar.

For today's recipe:
& # 8211 1 1/2 chicken breast
& # 8211 400g (a bag) of peas
& # 8211 a small onion
& # 8211 oil
& # 8211 2-3 tablespoons flour
& # 8211 50 ml broth (more if you like more sour)
& # 8211 300-400 ml of milk
& # 8211 spices for chicken
& # 8211 muuult marar
& # 8211 1 teaspoon of buoy

In a saucepan, heat the oil (enough to cover the bottom of the pan well). In it, heat the finely chopped onion. When the onion is bottled, add flour + a teaspoon of paprika, mix well until smooth. Then add the peas and broth, let it boil well (5 min). Then quench with milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste, add a sprig of dill (I really like dill, so the more the better.

Separately, in a Teflon pan, without a little oil, fry the chicken breast as a grill, cut into narrow and spicy strips. When it is fried, add it over the pea sauce and let it boil, so that the flavors blend.

MY ADVICE: If the sauce is too thin & # 8211 add another tablespoon of flour or starch. If it is too thick, add more milk (if you like it sweeter) or broth (if you like it sour). And if you want the sauce to be sweet, we can skip the side with the broth and put only milk. We served with toast and I personally was very excited. A portion for you too, to be the best:
